The Palms

Part of the brilliance of The Palms is that it caters both to locals and to tourists, the latter typically being of the young, hot and hip designation. Opened in late 2001 with a single hotel tower, it uniquely featured 'NBA sized' beds, reflecting the common ownership with the Sacramento Kings franchise. Since then, two more towers have been added to the mix - Palms Place is condos for sale but the Fantasy Tower includes hotel rooms and fabulous suites - one even includes a basketball court. The 'Hugh Hefner Suite' is named after the famous Playboy owner, to complement the Playboy Club casino located near the roof. Part of the secret to attracting the younger customers is nightlife and this is where The Palms delivers in droves. From Ghostbar and Rain in the original complex to the addition of Moon and the aforementioned Playboy Club, there's more party per square foot there than at any other property. Young owner George Maloof is known as a hands on, media savvy guy, evidenced by him bringing MTV's 'The Real World' to the hotel in 2002. This resulted in an avalanche of publicity for the hotel and setup later events such as the MTV Video Music Awards at the hotel's 'Pearl' concert venue in 2007.
